Personal Information
Wale has been interested in making music his whole life, but never really put an effort to actually producing it until late 2006. At Christmas 2006, Jeydon recieved 'Magix Music Maker 11 Deluxe' and he began to make any kind of beat he could come up with. Not until late January 2007 did he actually buy himself a regular computer microphone to test out his rapping skills on beats he had made. "I look back now and realize how monotone and bad I sounded, and see that I have come along way from the way I sounded when I first started," the young artist comments. It wasn't until early May that year did Wale buy a better quality microphone to rap on. He eventually learned to give it all he got when he recorded. "When I first started rapping, I listen to the songs now and it was basically like I was talking," he adds. Throughout the summer until the end of 2007, Wale had made a few songs that are now placed on his myspace, and his first song of 2008 is 'Baby Girl'. He has come along way from where he had started. Personal Interests
I have always had a passion for music ever since I was a young toddler. Mom would catch me in the kitchen with pots and pans spread on the floor with a wooden spoon in my hands, drumming away. Growing up, Dad was always a Rock fan, so that's basically all I ever heard, well, besides Mom's oldie's music. Rock is an okay genre of music but I never could picture myself playing the guitar or drums. Later on in life, I started listening to different radio stations and came across some with music which lead to the genre I produce now. Around the 7th grade, I began to write songs and could always hear the beat in my head, of which my song would be sung to. I wrote songs from then on, but they were never actually anything serious that could be played on the radio or anything. I basically never considered producing or singing them. During grade 8 and 9, all I listened to was Rap, Hip Hop and R&B. I always tried to picture how the beats were made, never exactly knowing that almost all the songs were produced with something simple like a keyboard. At the end of grade 9, my best friend and I were completely into being famous with making music. First, we were going to be a rock band. I would play the guitar, she would sing and my younger sister would be the drummer. Silly, right? We never actually completely thought it out. I had no idea how to play a guitar, my friend could sing, but my sister just finished grade 3. Alot of people want to be famous, right? But a few good people just want the fame and money. That's not something I was interested in. I was slowly establishing which way my passion for music would lead me to my conclusion. I like rock but not as much as I love Rap, Hip Hop and R&B. Before the 10th grade started, me and my friend dropped being a Rock Star and looked more at rapping. I wrote a few songs for us to rap but we never had the equipment to start so we basically weren't serious about the whole idea and so we dropped it. During the beginning of grade 10, while listening to Hip Hop & R&B every day, I really put my foot down to wanting to be a rapper. I asked Mom for a music making program to get started and really pursue in my interest. Christmas came and I finally got my program. I began producing Techno beats as a little experiment to how different sounds really made a difference to which genre a song was. I eventually switched over to the Hip Hop part of the program (Magix Music Maker Pro 11 Deluxe) and began fooling around there. I produced a mixture between Hip Hop and Techno music, but soon enough decided that I needed lyrics for my beats and to be able to rap on them. I did it. I wrote lyrics, got a microphone and began recording and producing. Ofcourse, since I was just starting, the songs weren't amazing as the stuff I hear on the radio. I was still proud at what I did. When I really work at a song, it takes me tops 5 hours to write and record a song (with much practise before recording). I havn't been producing beats since the beginning of 2007, seeing as I only had a beginners program and not any equipment to make top notch beats. Before the end of grade 10 arrived, I had wrote, rapped and produced many songs, but only some of which I am proud enough to let the world hear. As my rap career moves on, I keep getting better and better at what I do. The music most of the young adult population listens to, I plan to make. The kind of music you like to dance to in clubs and at highschool dances, not just music you listen to that's good to hear. I plan on doing this for the rest of my life and I believe that 2008 is my year. I plan on letting the world hear my music and continue to what I love to do best; make music.
